Good passwords have the following characteristics:
- Upper-case (capital) letters (e.g. A)
- Lower-case (small) letters (e.g. a)
- Numbers (e.g. 1)
- Symbols (e.g. %)
- Not found in a dictionary (including foreign languages)
- Never used anywhere else
- Not a username or other personal identifier
- At least 8 characters long
Here are a few examples:

- 123 (too short with numbers only)
- abc (too short with lower-case letters only)
- password (lower-case letters only and found in a dictionary)
- GaryL-1963 (username or other personal identifier)
- Abc123 (too short with no symbols)

Mnemonic: In 1314, Robert the Bruce won independence for Scotland.
- Ch3@p R0ck (10 characters [spaces count] with no vowels and follows all other recommendations so long as it is not used anywhere else)
Mnemonic: Cheap Rock
- &r3wc2J3sus41pb. (16 characters and follows all other recommendations so long as it is not used anywhere else)
Mnemonic: Andrew came to Jesus for a priesthood blessing.
- J2cwr20p!1vb! (13 characters and follows all other recommendations so long as it is not used anywhere else)
Mnemonic: Jumping to conclusions with regards to other people is a very bad idea.

In most cases, passwords are case-sensitive, meaning that Apple ≠ apple.
